This is a list of number-one albums in Brazil in 2009. All rankings are researched and compiled by Nielsen with records from physical sales in the country and published weekly since June 2009 by the Associação Brasileira dos Produtores de Discos (ABPD), a in the chart named CD - TOP 20 Semanal ABPD.[1]
The best placed album in the chart is from the Música Popular Brasileira singer Roberto Carlos with the colmpilation Elas Cantam Roberto Carlos, which the DVD format sold over 50,000 copies in Brazil, receiving a platinum certification.[2] The most successful soundtrack is Paraiso Nacional, a disc from the novel Paraiso, of Rede Globo.
The singer Michael Jackson was the only international artist that reached the top of the CD - TOP 20 Semanal ABPD in 2009 with his album Thriller and the compilation Greatest Hits History. The duet Victor & Leo spent four consecutive weeks at the top of the chart with their live album Ao Vivo e em Cores, that received a platinum certification from ABPD.[3] The year finished with Canta Jovem Guarda II, an album of Raça Negra.
